The spiral design on this 10 inch jar was sketched out lightly with a pencil then painstakingly filled in with red iron oxide. This design consists of randomly-spaced and -sized spirals around the bottom section of the pot. The glaze is of the Shino variety, a sodium-rich glaze that originated in Southeastern Asia.
