The spiral design on this 13 inch jar was sketched out lightly with a pencil then painstakingly filled in with red iron oxide. This design is organized into three broad bands of decoration around the pot, lending a more formal look... a repeating simple spiral at the top, randomly-spaced and -sized spirals around the widest part of the pot, and a simple triangular leaf pattern at the bottom. This jar is the second in this series, and demonstrates a more comfortable use of the spiral design element.
