The spiral design on this 20 inch jar was sketched out lightly with a pencil then painstakingly filled in with red iron oxide. The design is based on Celtic spirals but differs from the classic tightly repeating spiral with a looser, more random spacing that compliments the large form. This jar is the first in this most recent series of iron oxide-decorated Shino pots.
